Is Employment Discrimination Against Ex-Offenders Immoral?

The threat of hiring dishonest, unreliable and negligent employees already has some 92% of business owners conducting background checks for some or all hires. Hiring an unqualified staff imposes numerous liabilities and costs onto a business. Most business owners and hirers feel that the cost of background checks is modest at best and proves to be an excellent safeguard. Most employers cite that preventing theft, workplace violence and avoidance of liability for damages and injuries alone makes the searches worth it. Morally, there seems to be no issue. Overall, a consensus among business owners states that they are only protecting the well being of their employees and companies.
